As a class, we were challenged to create a design solution for a scenario where food becomes scarce. We created the CIJen Experience - a sustainable restaurant experience that repurposed leftover ingredients into delightful dishes that anyone can enjoy.

Our project was chosen to be a part of ‘Hey You! Let’s Talk About Waste’ exhibition at Emily Carr University of Art & Design

Overview

For this project, my group and I developed a restaurant aiming to maximize the use of the food we grow locally by repurposing food scraps and leftovers. In conjunction with this, we have designed series of sustainable reusable packagings and containers with recycled materials; this eliminates single-use products and minimal waste.

Despite the stigma towards leftovers and food scraps, we wanted to ensure that we were keeping the enjoyment of food consumption alive. This is why the restaurant experience itself was an integral part of this project.

With this, we really hope we can make a difference in spreading environmental awareness and helping to slowly transform waste culture.

Like any other project, we started with research and sketches ideation,
